Hankins Lumber to open second mill on Grenada Railroad

Hankins Lumber is investing $12.5M to renovate an idled planning mill and turn it into a modern sawmill that will produce 4x4s, 4x6s, and 6x6s. Grenada Railroad will provide rail service to this facility, as it does for the sister mill in Elliot, MS. Hankins plans to begin production in March.

The Mississippi Development Authority (MDA) issued a press release announcing the investment on November 5, 2020. MDA is providing assistance for equipment installation. The Delta Regional Authority and Grenada County are also assisting with the project.
