Gulf & Atlantic Railways LLC (formerly RailUSA) has appointed Kristin Bevil as General Counsel and Chief Legal Officer.
Bevil will represent the Jacksonville, Fla.-based short line holding company and its 430-mile Florida, Gulf & Atlantic Railroad (FGA) and 228-mile Grenada Railroad (GRYR), which received Honorable Mention in Railway Age’s 2021 Short Line and Regional Railroad Awards program. She later served as the first General Counsel for the Indiana Rail Road Company, Railway Age’s 2012 and 2018 Regional of the Year. She joined the regional in 2014 and advised on legal matters, including litigation, governance, regulatory compliance, labor relations and commercial transactions.
Bevil currently serves on the Board of Directors of the American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association as Vice President, Central Region, and is a member of the association’s Executive Committee.

GRYR operates in central Mississippi. The railroad recently received 286,000-pound gross weight on rail certification, following three years of multi-million-dollar construction and rehabilitation projects.
