Vice President Safety

Dan Fransen’s Railway career spans 30 plus years, Dan began his railroad career in May 1992 with the Burlington Northern Railroad as a section laborer in Casper, Wyoming eventually transferring into train service in Gillette, Wyoming in January 1994 where he was promoted to a conductor and locomotive engineer. Dan was promoted to Trainmaster with the BNSF Railway in May 2000 and served in numerous managerial roles with BNSF all with increased responsibility to include General Manager. Dan left BNSF in February 2017 joining Canadian Pacific Railway for a short time before joining the team at Central Maine & Quebec Railway in April 2018 as Director of Safety, Operating Practices and Regulatory Affairs. In October 2018 Dan was promoted to Vice-President Safety & Transportation and in August of 2019 was promoted to Vice-President Operations. In July 2020 Dan became Vice-President Safety for Katahdin Railcar Services and in November 2020 promoted to Vice-President of Operations. Dan has a history of establishing a scheduled railroad model along with a disciplined approach to the daily operation to help drive continuous improvement across Safety and the Operation.
