Chesapeake & Indiana Railroad

Operating over 28 miles of track in Northwest Indiana

The Chesapeake & Indiana Railroad (CKIN) operates and maintains over 28 miles of track in Northwest Indiana, close in proximity to the Chicago region. CKIN has the ability to interchange with both Norfolk Southern Railway and CSX Transportation, affording customers flexibility in traffic routing and pricing options. Unit trains, containing over 85 railcars of the same commodity, are regularly handled in conjunction with both major rail connections. CKIN, in partnership with a regional logistics provider, operates a rail-truck transloading facility at La Crosse, Indiana, which handles various bulk materials. Switching service can be provided daily and can be tailored to the specific needs of each customer.
